Licensed Reglazers (PKB Reglazing)

• Criminal Background Check--a license from the state will not be issued unless the licensee goes through a fingerprinting scan process with the state. This is to ensure that you are not allowing a convicted criminal or illegal alien into your home.
• Insurances--a Licensed Reglazer is required by law to carry Workers Compensation Insurance and have a Contractors Bond with the State. It is required by law for any Company with employees to carry Workers Compensation Insurance. You will find that most Licensed Reglazing Companies will also carry $1,000,000 General Liability Insurance as well.
• Employees--a Licensed Reglazer with Workers Compensation Insurance is allowed to have full time employees. This will ensure you that each employee entering your home is covered under Workers Compensation Insurance and is covered in case of accident or injury on the job.
• Reglazing Material--Licnesed reglazers will get access to the proper Reglazing and Refinishing materials. Most quality material suppliers will not sell to unlicensed workers out of fear that their material will be applied imporperly. PKB Reglazing uses  Durokote II and it is not available or to be used by the public. Professional Reglazers only.

Unlicensed Reglazers

• They do not go through a background check or screening process by the state. You don't know who is walking into your personal space and home.
• They do not carry Insurances. If they get injured on your job they can be a liability to you and sue you for the injury. READ THIS ARTICLE (click here) 
• They undercut pricing because they do not pay insurances, taxes, and they use inferior products. Car paints, industrial tool finishes, and repair kits and Home Centers are used in place of Quality Reglazing products used by Licensed Reglazing Companies.
• By law any form of advertisement must be accompanied by a valid and active license number pertaining specificaly to the services offered. It is simply illegal to advertise as a contractor without a valid license. A common misunderstanding is that just because a Reglazing Company has a website doesn't mean they have a license. The license number should be displayed on each and every page of the website. If you do not see it, then that is a red flag.

What is the CSLB doing to stop illegal activity?

The Statewide Investigative Fraud Team (SWIFT) is set up to monitor and combat illegal activity. SWIFT has teams around the state that conduct stings on a regular basis and sweep construction sites.

SWIFT also conducts joint operations and sweeps with other state agencies dedicated to combating underground activity. The partnerships with other agencies raise the penalties and fines for violators by increasing the scope of violations to include taxes, illegal payrolls, workers compensation and worker safety.
